The Grassfield is the name of our final interactive video.
I acted as the Leader of the team overseeing the whole production of the interactive video, as well as being the illustrator for the characters and partially helped with the video editing. The core of the project was to make an interactive video with 3 or more possible endings.

Flowchart of the storyline

As a team, we came up with the idea and used a flowchart to explain and communicate the story line. I helped in ideating some of the paths, as well as, analyzing the story line as a whole and finding any possible mistakes or misunderstanding that the storyline might have.

Once we had a clear idea of the story line we proceeded to do the storyboard. I was tasked to draw 80% of the story board. I decided to focus on having more close up types of shots rather than long/medium shots, to give a more interesting perspective to the interactive video.

First characters idea sketches

With a clear storyboard of the interactive video, i focus my attention on designing the characters of the story. Nonetheless, i would also check the progress of my teammates (background design, script writing). I design the characters and ask for feedback from my teammates and friends to see if the characters were "fitting" to the story and making sure the drawing style was same/similar to the background design.

For the final stage, we had to put together our work and make the interactive video. I divided the work with a teammate. She put together the images to form small videos according to the storyboard. Then I organize those videos in the proper order and add the interactive features to let the audience choose a path to one of the endings, using EKO.

Character designs

The Biggest challenge of this project was designing the characters and drawing all the positions needed for the interactive video. It was time consuming and required good organization. I overcame the challenge by organizing myself and by getting inspiration for external sources to design the characters

Design Rationale

During this project ,i improved my leading skills, as well as my illustration skills(drawing). And a further master of the program Photoshop where i draw all content for the project. At the same time learning more about the software Figma and learning the basic skills to use EKO.  

 

If i had more time to do the assignment i would manage our team time more effectively so we can get a good voice-over quality(essential). Other than that, making real animations rather than having still images would improve the project even further.
